Overview
Mill Green Museum and Mill is a working watermill in Hatfield. It is managed by Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council. Mill Green Museum and Mill holds an annual Vintage Day with classic cars, stalls and refreshments. It’s a small site and has a lovely relaxed feel to the day. We are there for DJing and dancing all day, with breaks when other entertainers perform.
Setup
Mill Green is a relatively small venue where we are thrilled to be in the prime position! The Jeep is placed across the front of the watermill, visible as you enter the site. There’s plenty of room in front for dancing.
We operate with our standard sound setup at Mill Green, using both of our speaker boxes. One is positioned to play to the main area in front of us, the other is placed at the rear of the trailer directing sound across the river to the outdoor seating area.
Schedule
The event is Midday – 5pm, taking place on one day. All of Mill Green’s entertainment is located in the same area so we stop intermittently throughout the day when other entertainers are performing, which gives us time to talk to people about the Jeep as listen to the memories they’ve been reminded of.
As it’s a smaller venue, based around one building, the flow of visitors around us is constant and we remain ‘attached’ to the Jeep for the duration of the event.
Music
At Mill Green we only need a 2.5 hour playlist so we’re able to stick to better known 1940s songs (with perhaps the occasional 1950s song) which suits this type of audience. During non-dancing times we’ll play our On the Home Front music, late 1930s/early 1940s British family favourites.
“You guys are so professional. You turn up with your amazing Jeep looking great, you understand our event and you then deliver your sounds with confidence but most importantly with a smile for anybody that wants to talk to you… and… you can dance! You look as though you are really enjoying yourselves which is infectious.”
